Norwegian teenager Annette Obrestad became the youngest person to ever win a World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournament at the first annual WSOP Europe event on Sunday.

Ms Obrestad, who turned 19 the day after her win, walked away with a cash prize of £1 million, along with the coveted World Series of Poker 18 carat gold and jewel-encrusted bracelet.

The bracelet, created by CORUM, the luxury Swiss watchmaker, is considered to be the official timepiece of the WOSP.

"I never expected to win – I'm speechless," said Ms Obrestad, who is the first woman to ever win a WSOP main event. "I really don't know what to say."

September's WSOP Europe tournament marked the first time that the gold bracelet prize has been available outside of the United States and plans are now underway for a second annual tournament, scheduled for September 2008.

The five-day main event, a no-limit Texas Hold 'Em tournament with a £10,000 buy-in, ended at the Casino at the Empire in Leicester Square, London.
