A unique piece of gold jewellery has been donated to US hospital ahead of a charity auction to help raise funds for breast cancer research and equipment.

Woodlands Online reports that jeweller Dannini has donated the $12,000 (£6,000) one-of-a-kind piece of neckwear to the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital.

The pink sapphires, white diamond and aquamarines 18-carat white gold necklace is to be auctioned for the In the Pink charity event on September 21st, the proceeds of which will go towards funding thermal imaging mammograms for women at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands' Breast and Bone Health Centre.

"This is one of my favourite pieces and I feel blessed to be able to help such a wonderful charity reach its fundraising goals", Jeri Slater, president of Dannini told Woodlands.

Funds will also go towards providing the centre with educational materials and equipment.

Included in the Dannini range is the Jarretiere collection, made of fine Italian gold created in flexible bands.
