A gold and semi-precious stone collection - Ovio - has been launched by Rosy Blue and jewellers Joy Alukkas in the Middle East.

Rosy Blue is a global manufacturer, designer and distributor of fine jewellery and the Ovio collection is comprised of semi-precious stones and gold stylings said to appeal to Arab, Asian and Western tastes.

The Ovio collection features six groups of pendants, rings, earrings, necklaces and matching sets in semi-precious stones, diamonds and 18-carat white, yellow and pink gold.

"Rosy Blue's market research in the United Arab Emirates through our retail partners indicates the tastes and buying trends of specific nationalities and cultural groups - our sales demonstrate that Arab nationals tend to choose larger stones, Asian nationals often prefer pieces with a dangling element and European buyers like a more minimalist style," said Harshad Mehta, Chairman of Rosy Blue.

Mr Mehta added that there is an "apparent demand" in the wider Middle East market for semi-precious jewellery incorporating the same quality elements of gold and diamond pieces in heavier, investment-style format.
