Tooth-friendly gold blingMonday, 16th July 2007 (2786 views) A new non-invasive method of decorating teeth with gold has been hit upon by a US company.DecoDent Teeth Jewellery has launched its new line of gold and white gold facings - a product that looks like a gold cap but is only bonded to the front of the tooth's surface thereby not damaging the enamel. Many dentists do not wish to damage otherwise healthy teeth for the cosmetic purposes of attaching a gold crown. The gold facings must be professionally applied by a dentist. "Our facings are temporary white and yellow gold flat shapes that do not require any drilling at all," noted Monika Linau, owner of DecoDent. "The facings are simply bonded onto the enamel and stay anywhere from three months to one year on the tooth," she added. Gold facings are available in 18 and 24-carat gold and come in different sizes as a slit or a shape - for example the letter 'U', or a full cover of the front or second tooth.
