Gold jewellery 'sells well' in QatarWednesday, 11th July 2007 (2848 views) Gold is selling well at jewellery stores in Doha, Qatar it has been reported.According to the Peninsula, demand for gold jewellery is usually lower during the summer months, however, an increasing population of foreign workers has countered that trend. The Qatar newspaper notes that according to traders, a number of weddings are taking place in Qatari families - who have a preference for heavier jewellery - this summer which could be a reason behind the increased gold sales. "Filipinos ... prefer 18-carat light gold jewellery and many of them carry chains and rings home, instead of cash, during their vacations," the newspaper claimed. In other gold news, Albert Cheng, managing director in charge of the World Gold Council, Asia, told Thuong mai newspaper that the decision to operate two gold bonded warehouses in Vietnam was a good decision in terms of the Vietnamese gold market.
