Gold Expressions 2007 has commenced in New Delhi with a showcase of Italian jewellery, it has been revealed.

The product development programme was launched in 2004 and is sponsored by the World Gold Council, Vicenza Fair - who organises gold industry trade fairs - and gold exploration company AngloGold Ashanti.

Gold Expressions' 2007 collection is being exhibited during a world tour which features promotional activities in China, India, the Middle East and the United States.

"India has always been one of the largest consumers of gold in the world and Italy is renowned for its designs in gold jewellery. Vicenza Fair plays the role of promoting the Italian goldsmith industry, representing gold jewellery manufacturers, machinery manufacturers and other suppliers of the industry," Andrea Turcato, chief of Vicenza Fair told India's Economic Times.

Attending the prestigious gold event was Bollywood star Lara Dutta, while a fashion show also entertained crowds, the newspaper revealed.
