Dubai seeks to encourage jewellersFriday, 6th July 2007 (3163 views) The Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) is looking to enhance the skills of jewellers in the emirate.By joining forces with the International Gemological Institute (IGI), DGJC has established a course to improve the skills of those entering the profession. KP Baju, general manager of the group, said: "This course was introduced on popular demand. "We had quite a few enquiries from those wanting to pursue a career in jewellery design about training programmes that could help them to achieve that." Speaking on the last day of the course, Tawhid Abdullah, managing director DGJC, said the course's participants demonstrated both passion and imagination. The DGJG, which was established in 1996, currently has in excess of 700 members and offers both training courses and jewellery block insurance. It also states its members cover a range of areas, which include manufacturing, wholesale, retail and bullion.
