Russian's 'birth ring' worth £250mFriday, 4th May 2007 (4083 views) A man has recently discovered that a ring he was given when he was born is worth an incredible £250 million.Ivan Adamov gave his ring to experts at the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, Russia, for an evaluation. He was shocked to learn however, that the six-carat gold ring was an original work by the sixteenth century Italian artist, Benvenuto Cellini. Mr Adamov said: "I had forgotten about the ring for years and now, since it has been identified, I can't sleep. "It lay for years in an old box of things that my grandmother had. I am now so rich, I think my head will explode thinking about it." It is believed that Cellini could well have made the ring for a Polish king. He is one of the most famous artists of the Renaissance, and was an accomplished goldsmith, painter, sculptor and musician. He was particularly fond of making sculptures out of gold and silver.
