Monday, 16th April 2007 (5147 views) A new promotional campaign for gold jewellery will contain the face of popular television actress Sudha Shivpuri, according to new reports.The World Gold Council has announced that the star, otherwise known as Baa, from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi will be used to promote Akshaye Trithya, an important Hindu festival. "People purchase gold jewellery during the auspicious occasion of Akshaye Trithya because they believe that the purchase of gold on that day brings good luck and prosperity to the household," explained Ms Shivpuri. She added that many Hindus believe that entering into their home wearing some gold jewellery on the day of Akshaye Trithya will invoke blessings and success on the household. On Akshaye Trithya the sun and the moon are both at the peaks of their brightness and the festival lasts some three and a half days. Madhumita Dutta, from the World Gold Council, said that the organisation is committed to women seeing gold as the fashion accessory of choice.
