Canadian Mint adds to its collectionsWednesday, 4th April 2007 (3445 views) A total of eight new gold and silver coin collections have been added to the Royal Canadian Mint's portfolio, the firm has announced.Some of these new releases are 99.999 per cent pure gold and silver coins, while another is the first square-holed coin to be released by the Royal Canadian Mint. Incorporated upon the coins will be a range of different designs including flowers native to Canada, various national war monuments and ships. Commenting on the release of the new collections, the president and chief executive officer of the Royal Canadian Mint, Ian Bennett spoke of the company's pride in the "quality and technical innovation". He continued: "The blend of artistry, technology and historical significance in this latest release is sure to appeal to a broad range of collectors and coin enthusiasts." A coin entitled Purple Violet is described as the "purest gold ever refined by any mint", whereas the Wolf coin is a further addition to the collection that is focussed on producing the Mint's smallest ever set of coins.
