Gold 'bling' remains popularThursday, 15th March 2007 (3204 views) At the recent Academy Awards in the US, cluster jewellery appeared to have come back into favour among pre-eminent actresses from both home and abroad.According to the Journal Gazette, luminaries such as Oscar nominee Kate Winslet and Oscar winner Dame Helen Mirren were all conspicuous by their wearing of 80s-style cluster earrings, instead of the traditional chandelier style. Sandra Graham, jewellery style director for eBay, said: "Large cluster earrings are an ode to the 80s," she said, adding that they are especially effective with a strapless gown. Ms Graham also identified how gold jewellery was enjoying a resurgence in popularity, perhaps in no small part due to its bling factor. "I'm seeing a lot of gold hoops, which plays into the resurgence of 14 carat-and-up gold," she said. Other gold earring designs which were identified as being popular included leaves and branches.
