Mitsubishi Materials Corp has come up with a novel way of getting yourself noticed - by producing gold business cards.

The cards are of 99.99 per cent purity, each one will set back the individual a sum of ¥10,000 (£44) and the patent is held in many countries across the world.

Entitled the Fine Gold Card, Mitsubishi has touted the cards as being the perfect gift idea for birthdays, weddings and anniversaries and says that the creation of the product comes about through rolling technologies and processes.

A spokesperson from Mitsubishi Materials Corp told the Daily Telegraph in Australia: "There is very little difference between this and the usual business card, they both feel about the same."

The Fine Gold Card weighs only one gram and comprises of a laminate being put over the gold on both sides so that the relevant business details can be inscribed.

According to the firm's website, the card offers "high-sensed style and luxury to your general and business articles".
