Italian gold experts say jewellery sales to recover in 2007Monday, 15th January 2007 (3401 views) After years of decline the Italian jewellery industry may be set to stabilise in 2007, according to the country's industry experts.Corrado Facco is the managing director of internationally renowned gold trade fair Vicenzaoro and he says that he remains optimistic about the Italian gold industry seeing stabilisation in 2007, although growth is still a way off. Federofi, the Italian goldsmiths' federation, has also said it expects to see recovery this year with top-end items faring well. Consumer demand is seeing slight increases as many Italian jewellery firms have begun more aggressively marketing their products as well as restructuring their businesses. Mr Facco told Reuters that Italian gold is especially popular in China and Russia and it is already the biggest jewellery industry in Europe. He added: "What is really important is not volumes but added value that jewellers create. Jewellery is more than just precious metals and gems, it's an intangible value that we create." However, other experts have warned that there has been an overall decline in exports and production of Italian gold gems.
