A top Bollywood star is set to launch a new range of gold jewellery in Qatar.

Popular Indian actress Karisma Kapoor is readying to launch the Eros collection at the Gold Souq, as part of the main showroom at the Al-Sulaiman Jewellery & Watches display.

The beautiful Bollywood star, nicknamed Lolo, has starred in several hit Indian films including Shakti: The Power and Zubeidaa and will be taking part in a fashion show at the Hyatt Plaza after inaugurating the Eros collection tomorrow.

Eros' range includes various gold and diamond jewellery pieces, and is taking full advantage of the current boom in precious metal jewellery demand in India and the Middle East.

While Indian jewellery is still highly sought after in its home nation, the domestic jewellery producers are keen to expand operations to new markets such as Japan.

And although the US accounts for almost a third of all jewellery consumption in the world, west Asian countries such as China and Japan are proving to be attractive alternatives for Indian manufacturers and designers.
