Wednesday, 10th January 2007 (5152 views) From this week new jewellery lines featuring decorated murano glass along with 22-carat gold and diamonds have been made available at Diagold outlets in Kolkata, India.Designer Varda Goenka's collection is called Venetia and it has been reported that she has been creating the final designs for the past three months. Prices begin at around Rs 10,000 (£116) and Ms Goenka has experimented with other materials in her designs including leather and wood. She told Telegraph India: "Murano, an island in Venice, is famous for its handblown glass work. A trip to Europe last year had me pondering over the jewellery wonders one could do with Murano glass." "Globally, gold is coming back. Lots of colours and big pieces are in. The collection incorporates all of these. Glass has added a touch of innovation," added Ms Goenka. A range of products comprise the limited edition ensemble including medallions, earrings, watches and rings. The watches have their bands fashioned from white or amber murano glass and are then adorned with gold and diamonds.
