Wednesday, 10th January 2007 (5436 views) A gold and pearl earring belonging to legendary Hollywood actress Marlene Dietrich has turned up in the most remarkable of places – Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The item of jewellery was lost 73 years ago, when Ms Dietrich was invited to the seaside resort on England's west coast to ride on a newly built rollercoaster. Unfortunately for the actress, the earring fell off as she rode the rollercoaster and had remained lost until now. Staff recovered the item in a man-made lake under the ride. A Blackpool Pleasure Beach spokeswoman said: "The earring had more sentimental value to the actress than cash value. "It appears to have stood the test of time quite well. We compared it to photos taken at the time and it certainly looks like one of hers." Ms Dietrich - star of films such as Blue Angel and Destiny Rides Again - died in 1992 but is said to have requested that staff at the Pleasure Beach scour the area in order to find her gold and pearl earring.
