Friday, 17th November 2006 (4901 views) A pawnbroker was attacked with a gun before having his gold stolen in India yesterday.Three miscreants stole gold worth 10 lakh (£11,000) from Lalji Nagesh's treasure chest in Ganesh Basti. Situated in the Kothagudem area of India, the pawnbroker was fooled into letting the trio of youths into his house because they pretended to be "ID police". They then set about threatening Mr Nagesh with revolvers and broke open his cash chest and locker. In Malaysia, police are urgently trying to track down a team of "trigger happy and brutal" robbers who have shot dead two security guards while looting a goldsmith shop. The robbers have struck at three gold shops since March 2006 and earlier this month, they escaped from a goldsmith's in Puchong with a haul of the precious metal worth one million ringgits (£145,190). The guards were shot at a goldsmith concession within the Tesco hypermarket in Bukit Tinggi and more than 20 shots were fired by six gunmen. They covered their faces with handkerchiefs before scooping the gold jewellery into green sacks.
