Gold exhibition sure to offer nuggets of wisdomThursday, 16th November 2006 (3156 views) A new exhibition entitled Gold is to open at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on November 18th, showcasing an amazing collection of golden artefacts.Journalists were invited to preview the collection earlier this week with a total of 700 gold items on display including coins, ingots, bars and cultural relics. The cultural relics feature objects fashioned from gold from around the world and visitors to the museum can learn about the forms that gold takes, its properties, its geological formations and gold mining. Lasting until August 19th 2007, the Gold exhibition promises to provide a wealth of information about the yellow metal and is supported by the Tiffany and Co. Foundation as well as American Express Gold Card. Visitors can also improve their knowledge of the concept of gold as a monetary concern, charting its rise from thousands of years ago to its present position in the global economy. The American Express Gold Tour can be pre-booked and includes a tailored tour of the exhibition by the museum's staff, costs $270 (£143) for up to six guests and offers discounts at both the gold shop and gold nugget cafe.
