Golden truck hits the roadMonday, 13th November 2006 (3194 views) We've had gold jewellery and even gold food but now transport is turning gold as Toyota launches its latest truck.Toyota Industrial Equipment Europe (TIEE) is producing a gold edition of one of its most popular trucks. The 7IC series will be gold and black and will be a strictly limited edition vehicle. Shinya Furukawa, president of TIEE, said: "Since the 7IC Series has become the most popular forklift model in the world, it seems fitting to launch an exclusive gold edition 7IC as Toyota celebrates 50 years in the materials handling business. "The 7IC Series is a range in which we have truly put our 50 years of materials handling expertise to use and we are certain that our customers will continue to enjoy the benefits that have made this forklift a worldwide bestseller." Elsewhere in Qatar, a golden football was auctioned to raise $2.4 million (£1,256,585) for the Reach Out to Asia charity and white gold vine jewellery studded with diamonds also went under the hammer for the appeal. Ex-England manager Sven Goran-Eriksson and Archbishop Desmond Tutu were both present at the charity auction to witness the golden goodies being given a new home.
