Gold is 'pizza de resistance'Friday, 10th November 2006 (3567 views) If you fancy a pizza with a twist and have some extra cash to burn then perhaps you'd be interested in Domenico Crolla's latest creation.Possibly the world's most expensive pizza, it is topped with champagne-soaked caviar as well as lobster marinated in the finest cognac and most importantly… it is sparkled with gold. It is worth more than £1,500 according to Mr Crolla who plans to auction it off for charity this week. He is an award-winning chef from the Bella Napoli restaurant in Glasgow and this year got to the finals of the Pizza Designer of the Year Award. The last round is held in London this month where he could bag the title as well as a cash prize of £500. Edible gold is a pricey but classy trend and just recently Swiss chocolate makers DeLafee designed pralines which are covered with 24 carat edible gold leaf.
