Gold jewellery stolen in EdinburghThursday, 2nd November 2006 (3700 views) More than £10,000 worth of Indian gold jewellery has been stolen following a break in at a home in Edinburgh over the weekend.According to police, a number of distinctive items were taken, including a 1.5 carat gold princess cut diamond, a pair of diamond stud earrings and a number of 24 carat diamante bangles. Lothian and Borders Police have expressed concern that the stolen jewellery items may be sold on, and a £2,000 reward is being offered to anyone who comes forward with information that could lead to a conviction. A police spokesman said: "If anyone sees or is offered any items of Indian jewellery, we would ask them to contact the police immediately." Indian gold jewellery is seen as both a traditional form of adornment and a valuable investment. It is associated with many Hindu ceremonies and is often given as gifts at weddings and religious festivals.
