The year 2007 could be an extremely profitable one for Japanese jeweller Ginza Tanaka, who has produced a calendar made of solid gold.

According to Mainichi Daily News, the precious metal masterpiece measures 42cm by 67cm, weighs six kilograms and costs 20.07 million yen.

The front of the solid gold sheet displays the days and months of the year, while the back features a picture of the historical Japanese military commander Takeda Shingen.

The calendar went on sale on Saturday and Ginza Tanaka hopes it will be a valuable investment for the lucky buyer, both financially and personally.

A store representative told Mainichi Daily News: " The price of gold has a tendency to rise. We hope people will purchase it as an investment or for a memory."

The recent gold boom in Japan has prompted the creation of such unusual golden artefacts as Ginza Tanaka's calendar. Earlier this month the jeweller unveiled a three-kilogram foot massager made of 24 carat gold.

According to NDTV the traditional Japanese object, which is usually made of green bamboo, cost almost 14 million yen.
