An ancient gold jewellery collection has gone on display in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to international aplomb.

More than 500 exhibits celebrate beautifully made gold bracelets, necklaces, earrings and brooches throughout the ancient days of Phung Nguyen and Oc Eo. Many are encrusted with gemstones.

The exhibition explains the traditional differences between Vietnamese tribes where Cham women wore agate and strings made of gold and Kinh people wore ivory necklaces.

These differences are still apparent in modern jewellery which features inherited details from the past.

Gold jewellery exhibitions which show exquisite designs from throughout history can be found at various places throughout the world.

An exhibition of gold from the Anglo-Saxon period is currently on display in the Viking town of York, north England, with much of the gold jewellery and sculptures on display representative of the period when York-based Constantine was proclaimed Emperor
