Gold ring to help forgetful husbandsThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Thursday, 28th September 2006 (5463 views) A new ring that began as a joke concept product from the Goldsmith Gallery in Alaska is set to go on sale this week in the United States. The item of jewellery, a 14-carat gold ring, automatically reminds you of your anniversary by emitting heat that can be felt by the wearer. The discomfort is intended to remind them on the day of, or the day before, their anniversary. Thermopile technology contained within the ring uses the heat from your finger to power a tiny microchip clock which, when it reaches the special day, will heat up to around 48 C (120 F) for approximately ten seconds at a time. Dubbed the Remember Ring, it was initially thought of as a humorous novelty item to garner publicity for the company, but after prompting so many requests for more information, it became obvious to company chiefs that it could be a profitable venture. The rings will retail for approximately £400 each and are available in seven different styles in white or yellow gold.
