Tooth jewels are cheaper, healthier grillzThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Wednesday, 14th June 2006 (6026 views) The popularity of 'Grillz', a dental fashion accessory made up of precious stones and metal that is bonded to the teeth, is causing consternation among dentists in the United States, which has led to a new form of 'tooth jewellery' being launched.DecoDent Teeth Jewelry has introduced a new line of gold and white gold jewels that affix to the front teeth and are less harmful to incisors than full-on 'grillz', which can impede dental hygiene. The jewels are specially made to be used on teeth and they are attached with a non-invasive light-curing composite and can stay in place for anything from eight months to several years. "Our temporary white and yellow gold tooth-jewels are gaining popularity, since they are non-invasive, professionally attached, and still add some 'bling' to your teeth," said Monika Linau, the entrepreneur and former dental assistant inventor. "They are much more affordable than a grill and it only takes a few minutes to attach them," she added. A dentist from Beverley Hills, California, Sam Saleh, said the new fashion accessories were becoming popular with the Hollywood crowd, "who want something different to express their individualism with".
