Wednesday, 14th June 2006 (5388 views) Gold jewellery set with rare stones and worth some $275,000 has been recovered after it was stolen from a car last week.US jewellery design firm Anthony Nak lost 13 pieces of gold and platinum jewellery set with Tanzanite, which is an almost extinct stone from Tanzania in Africa. The pieces formed part of a special collection designed together with the Tanzanite Foundation and is intended to raise awareness and funds for the country. Altogether, ten pieces of the lost treasure were found in a pawn shop in Austin, Texas and a man has been charged with the theft. The precious blue gem is said to be 1,000-times rarer than diamond and the Tanzanite Foundation works to ensure the ethical sourcing of the stone. Jewellery house Anthony Nak creates pieces that set a range of precious stones on what the firm describes as "cascading gold chains", said to be favoured by several Hollywood stars. Nak Armstrong and Anthony Camargo, who are behind the company, were honoured at the Town & Country 2006 Couture Design Awards earlier this month.
