New Zealand is gearing up for its annual jewellery design showcase, featuring the latest works being crafted in the country.

NZ Jewellery Design 06, a three-day event, will feature more than 70 designers from across the region, with visitors encouraged to snap up the latest pieces.

Featuring a wide range of styles, the gathering is designed to foster excellence and to provide a platform for jewellers to market their collections.

One of those present will be Auckland-based goldsmith Brent Sutcliffe, a winner of the UK Jeweller of the Year Award in 2003, who will showcase his award-winning white gold violin.

A host of contemporary designers will be on show, including Peter Deckers, Shelley Norton and Andrea Daly.
