Seahawks collect Championship ringsThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Thursday, 8th June 2006 (5227 views) To commemorate the team's NFC Championship win last season, the Seattle Seahawks have attended a private presentation ceremony at the team's headquarters to collect their individual rings, The Seattle Times reports. The presentation will go some way towards cushioning the blow of losing 21-10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XL earlier this year. The rings are each cast in 14-carat white gold and feature 58 diamonds weighing 1.7 carats. The rings all have the Seahawks logo embedded in blue volcanic crystallised stone in the shape of a football, with an entire weight of almost 70 grams each. "The look on their faces when they opened it up - priceless," the team's general manager, Tim Ruskell, said. "This is about accomplishment, and that's the way it needs to be viewed. And it's not the end of something. We look at it as the beginning of something that we want to sustain over a long period of time." Seahawk's fullback Mack Strong was clearly proud of what the ring represents: "We are NFC champions, and that's something that we'll be until somebody replaces us, hopefully years down the road," he said.
