£94m worth of wedding rings lost each yearThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Thursday, 8th June 2006 (5267 views) Lost wedding and engagement rings account for more than £94 million each year, according to a new survey.Whether it be the latest line in chic white gold rings or the increasingly popular coloured gold styles, wedding rings have the potential to go astray says Prudential Home Insurance. The insurance provider claims one in ten Brits will lose their ring within three months of the big day. A further 42 per cent said they lost their rings within the first five years, while 16 per cent mislaid the rings within the first year. Prudential Home Insurance media relations manager Phil Southgate argued that people should insure such valuable possessions, particularly given the frequency with which the rings were lsot. "Losing something as precious as a wedding or engagement ring is upsetting enough but over 18,000 people this year will suffer a double blow when they realise they have no insurance to cover their loss," he commented. He said naming the item on home insurance policies was one way to soften the blow.
