An Asian luxury goods company that creates lifestyle pieces from furniture to jewellery has been awarded the licence to produce an official collection of designer timepieces for Sony Pictures, to be launched alongside the Da Vinci Code movie.

The company, called Da Vinci Holdings, takes inspiration for the timepieces from the work of Renaissance man Leonardo Da Vinci, who contributed volumes to both art and science.

Ten precision timepieces form the collection, all with outer casings made in rose gold and stainless steel.

The decoration includes cubic zirconias and sapphires, as well as famous Da Vinci paintings.

Raymond Phua, managing director of Da Vinci Holdings, said: "We have captured Leonardo Da Vinci's brilliant artistic creations, namely The Vitruvian Man and Mona Lisa, to create the Da Vinci Code timepiece collection."

A massive statue representing the The Vitruvian Man has also been unveiled in a Kuala Lumpur shopping mall to honour Leornado Da Vinci, at the same time as censors have agreed to the Da Vinci Code being shown in Malaysia.
