Egyptian treasure!Friday, 12th May 2006 (3635 views) A collection of 500 Egyptian treasures, including gold jewellery and coins, is set to go on display in Berlin on Saturday. The exhibition, which will be shown at the Martin Gropius Bau museum, will run for four months and then move on to Paris. Among the highlights are a statue of the god of the Nile, Hapy, alongside gold heads of sphinxes, coins and jewellery. The treasures were uncovered by a team of French-led archaeological divers, who brought them to the surface of a sunken civilisation that is believed to have been submerged following an earthquake or some other natural disaster. Also featured in the Egypts Sunken Treasures exhibition will be pieces from Muslim, Roman and Greek cultures, as well as some from early Christian cultures.
