Signet happy with "strong" jewellery salesFriday, 5th May 2006 (3691 views) Signet has seen its jewellery sales rise during the first quarter, as gold jewellery helped bolster the figures. The jeweller which claims to be the worlds largest speciality retail outlet said total sales were up 13.7 per cent with like-for-like sales up 2.8 per cent. While the figures were slightly down on expectations for the period from January 29th to April 29th, the sales still showed an upturn in fortunes. Chief executive Terry Burman said the US division had shown "a strong first quarter" but acknowledged a "challenging" UK market in the context of a difficult retail environment. Signet operates almost 2,000 jewellery, including the H.Samuel, Ernest Jones and Leslie Davis outlets in the UK. All of the chains offer a wide range of golf jewellery items, regularly introducing new lines.
