Thursday, 27th April 2006 (6152 views) Graff Diamonds paid more than $3 million for the top two lots at the Magnificent Jewels sale at Sotheby's.The "diamond company extraordinaire" went home with the Rojtman diamond, a 107.46-carat stone for which it paid $1.92 million, as well as the 65.57-carat Golden Maharaja diamond, which it bought for $1.38 million. Other pieces sold at the auction included a "Zip Chantilly" bracelet and necklace set made from 18-carat gold, platinum and diamond. The set went for $138,000. Other diamonds that fetched a high price included a 39.14-carat fancy intense yellow diamond ring, which also sold for more than $1 million to a Middle Eastern trade collector. Graff Diamonds, or the House of Graff, is renowned for the exceptional quality of its diamonds. Owner Laurence Graff will be happy with the result of the auction: "Diamonds are my life," he said. "I was born to be amongst diamonds."
