BaselWorld enjoys record attendanceFriday, 7th April 2006 (3683 views) The 2006 BaselWorld watch and jewellery exhibition in Switzerland came to an end yesterday (April 6th), after pulling in a record number of visitors.The eight-day show attracted some 94,200 people, who made the journey from over 100 countries to see an array of brands displaying their wares in 160,000 square metres of exhibition space, the National Jeweler reports. The figures represent a five per cent increase on 2005 attendance, while the number of accredited journalists covering the show rose by 7.2 per cent to 2,529. Jacques Duchene, president of the exhibitors' committee, said: "We are very happy and can genuinely report that this has been an excellent BaselWorld. "Everyone was very pleased with last year's event but, thanks to the higher number of visitors, economic prospects for this year have proved even better. As exhibitors, BaselWorld each year becomes increasingly important to us."
