World renowned jewellery retailer Tiffany has announced its decision to open two new stores in China over the course of 2006.

Scheduled to open in May, the larger of the two will occupy the Oriental Plaza shopping centre in Beijing, while a second outlet will feature in Shanghai's luxury mall Plaza 66, opening in the autumn.

Tiffany is famous for its exquisite diamond collections, among the best in the world, set in engagement and Celebration rings. The most luxurious items include platinum and 18-carat gold settings.

Fashionable jewellery, watches, rings, pearls, gifts and accessories will draw the Chinese crowds – as will the illustrious collections of Jean Schlumberger and Paloma Picasso.

Darren Chen of Tiffany's international sales commented: "These convenient stores expand our presence both in Beijing and Shanghai, cities of growing importance as global business centres and as destinations for both domestic and overseas tourists.

"We look forward to giving our customers in both cities greater access to Tiffany's heritage of design excellence and outstanding service, qualities that together create a unique and memorable shopping experience."
