Jewellery store gets birthday smashThursday, 16th March 2006 (3745 views) A gold jewellery store owner in the US was left reeling after a truck smashed through his front window, shattering a number of displays.Rodney Humes, of Kentucky-based Humes-McKenzie Jewelers, said that nobody was actually hurt in the accident, and it gave him a good idea for an advertising ploy to mark the shop's 21st anniversary. A regular customer told Mr Humes that "all the angels were in the right place" to ensure things were not much worse, which he promptly used in radio message to inform listeners the store was open again just days after the incident. Many people told him it was one of the best ads they'd ever heard. As for the scale of the damage, Mr Humes said some cases and a charm tower had been lost, but the rest of the gold and jewellery was left unscathed. Mr Humes is now awaiting his damages claim, according to National Jeweler.
