Comprising 173 gold, diamond and pearl pieces, Nizam's is looked upon as one of the world's foremost jewellery collections. But according to the government, it is time for it to get a permanent airing in a yet-to-be-decided location. "The selection of the location will be taken after the security agencies give the go-ahead," tourism minister J. Geeta Reddy said in parliament, according to New Kerala. She added that the jewels should no longer be kept in the Royal Bank of India's vaults but that the government had yet to select a specific destination. The priceless collection was publicly displayed in Hyderabad's Salarjung Museum by the Musi river for two months in 2005. The union government took ownership of the jewellery, thought to be worth more than Rs 20,000 crore, eleven years ago following a legal scrap with Nizam's heirs.
