Jewellery for pampered pooches and cosseted cats now represents a growing chunk of the multi-billion dollar pet industry.

Though most dogs and cats can't even see themselves in the mirror, pet-bling appears to be the latest trend sweeping the US.

Lush Puppy in Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas is one of many pet accessory boutiques now offering a range of jewellery for besotted pet-owners to bestow upon their furry friends.

Those who really want to show just how much they care can plump for a $125 gold necklace with a diamond pendant.

The store offers a startling array of pet-jewellery ranging from $50 to $250, including Swarovski crystal-adorned pendants, fresh-water pearls and intricately beaded necklaces.

"Everyone wants some kind of bling for their pet," store manager Jill Jones explained to the Las Vegas Business Press.

If bling is not your pet's thing, the store stocks a range of other accessories and can even render oil painted portraits of the owner with their prized pal.
