Monday, 13th March 2006 (3753 views)

Passengers flying with Emirates Airline have been invited to bid for an exclusive one-off white-gold watch while in the air.

Opening bids for the centennial Mont Blanc chronograph, which is cast in 18-carat solid white gold and features 43-faceted diamonds, will start at $60,000.

The auction is in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Mont Blanc – renowned for its fine writing and precision accessories - with all proceeds going to a children's charity.

Interested buyers must submit bids via Emirates' onboard duty free brochure by May 31st. The auction is open to passengers on all Emirates flights.

Speaking as the "stunning masterpiece" was unveiled in Dubai, Mont Blanc president Karl Heinze Handke, said: "We are proud to unveil Mont Blanc's centennial watch for the first time, and to partner with Emirates Airline in this very unique promotion."

He added: "We are confident this onboard promotion will be a success and look forward to contributing the full proceeds to a worthy cause."

The winning bidder will also be whisked off first-class with Emirates to the luxury Montblanc Chateau in Zurich.
