Men want more jewelleryThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Tuesday, 14th February 2006 (5465 views) Industry experts say that men are increasingly likely to want jewellery for Valentine's Day.The Jewellery Information Centre, a body that represents the jewellery sector, says that men's accessories is a market niche that is growing quickly, according to the Edmonton Journal. Jewellery firms are expanding their ranges to suit men's tastes as a result. Simmons Jewellery features rubber and steel pendants and a Sony PSP case made of gold, black diamonds and alligator hide. The trend is seen as being partly down to celebrity trend-setting. Brad Pitt was recently photographed wearing a silver Tiffany pendant, while Johnny Depp wore a long silver necklace at the 2006 Golden Globes award ceremony. Colin Ferguson of carats.com says that young urban professionals' desire for "metrosexual understated luxury" is causing the increase in demand in jewellery sales. "It has always been a gift to a woman for her, as a symbol of love, and for him as a sort of necessary evil," he said. "But now, it's guys who are really interested in wearing these things".
