He also noted that Valentine's Day is "geared towards women". He also noted that rubies were popular gifts on the February holiday. Meanwhile Cynthia Morrison of Morrison Jewellers, also in Michigan, considers that certain accessories make good Valentine gifts because they make a woman look slim. "You would want something that accentuates the face, or neckline," she said. Jennifer Ralph of Wisteria Flowers & Gifts in Rochester, New York, remembers a customer who was particularly keen to impress his girlfriend. Amongst his $1,000 worth of presents was a parcel of twelve gold-dipped roses.
