Queen's gold jewellery to go on displayFriday, 10th February 2006 (4875 views) A gold bracelet and a gold tissue gown will feature in an exhibition of the Queen's gowns and gems, to be held in Buckingham Palace this summer.The exhibition, to mark the Queen's 80th birthday, will feature famous gems, as well as personal gifts including a bracelet given to the Queen by her husband, Prince Philip. The gold, sapphire, diamond and ruby bracelet was made by Boucheron, based on a design by the prince. It features the interlaced initials "E" and "P", and was a gift to commemorate their fifth wedding anniversary. Also on display will be a gold tissue, one-shouldered gown overlaid with lace, worn by the Queen on a tour of Commonwealth countries in the fifties. Other pieces will include the famous Vladimir Tiara and two brooches featuring stones from the Cullinan Diamond, as well as outfits designed by royal couturiers Norman Hartnell and Hardy Amies. The gems and gowns will be displayed during the summer opening of Buckingham Palace in August and September. The Queen turns 80 on April 21st.
