Brazilian jeweller GoldBacker set to expandThursday, 9th February 2006 (3764 views) The Brazilian jewellery maker GoldBacker is looking to create a partnership in the Middle East to expand its international business.GoldBacker, famous for producing woven golden threads, already exports its products to the United Arab Emirates, and now wants to increase its presence. It is looking to establish a partnership with a local Arab representative to help expand its client portfolio in the region. The company has already formed similar partnerships in the US and Italy. GoldBacker currently employs 110 people and trades in all parts of Brazil. It was present at the recent National Fair of the Jewellery and Watches Industry in Sao Paulo, where it unveiled six new jewellery collections. Exports currently make up only a small part of the company's revenue, but director Joao Carlos Santi hopes to change that through expansion in the Middle East. "I spent 15 days in Dubai visiting importers and distributors," he said. "It is a market in which we plan to invest from now on." Brazil's geology, political stability and developed mining culture are attractive for investors. The country's gold market has witnessed a resurgence over the last few years following a new wave of investment built on exploration success.
