Fergie unveils jewellery collection

Tuesday, 31st January 2006 (4780 views)

The Duchess of York has confirmed that she will be creating a new jewellery range.

Sarah Ferguson, affectionately known as Fergie, will design a new collection for K&G Creations.

The pieces will be inspired by vintage designs and will make heavy use of moissanite, created by Charles and Colvard.

The jewellery will be unveiled some time between April and June this year and will be sold exclusively in Finlay Fine Jewellery Departments, available in stores like Macy's, Lord and Taylor and Bielk's.

Aside from designing the jewellery, Fergie will also act as a spokesperson for the company and plans to make in store appearances. In return K&G Creations will donate all net proceeds from the collection to the Sarah Ferguson Foundation for Children.

Moissanite is a rare mineral that was discovered in 1893. With a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale, it compares well to diamonds, making it an attractive option for jewellers.

However, natural deposits of the mineral are too small to be useful for commercial jewellery producers, with most moissanite produced synthetically in labs.
