An acclaimed musician from the London Philharmonia Orchestra will be travelling to Australia to work with talented young musicians, the advertiser reports.

Paul Edmund-Davies, a leading British flautist known for his penchant for gold flutes, will undertake a 15-day lecturing and performing tour of Australia, the Advertiser reports.

He will be travelling next month, courtesy of Flute Fidelity's David Leviston, and will be working with some of the country's best young flautists.

Principle flautist with the Philharmonia, Mr Edmund-Davies has also performed solo with conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Mstislav Rostropovich, Pierre Boulez and Kent Nagano. Additionally, he has recorded as a chamber musician.

At present, Mr Edmund-Davies performs with a 19.5-carat rose gold flute, the Seattle Flute Society reports.

A ten-carat rose gold flute typically costs from $16,000 to $19,000, while a 14-carat rose or white gold flute with a 14-carat rose gold mechanism can cost between $30,000 and $35,500.
