Golden grooming for bridal extravaganzaTuesday, 17th January 2006 (3910 views) Shagan will be hosting a wedding exhibition this month, showcasing the latest fashions and gold accessories for soon to be married couples. As the Indian public feel their buying power increase due to an ever-growing economy, the amount spent on gold for wedding ceremonies has also increased. Visually extravagant and opulent ceremonies have always been the case for Indian weddings, but now diamonds and gold are commonly expected to feature in them. The exhibition will host the best the retail sector has to offer in jewellery, bridal clothes and wedding services with ideas for food and entertainment also on show. However, not all visitors to the exhibition are there for wedding purposes. Some are going to see what gold jewellery can be bought for their investments. The South Asian Women's Forum quotes one investor as saying: "For an Indian woman, jewellery has been a traditional investment say women [and] it has been proved an excellent investment with the prices of gold and precious stones zooming to new heights in recent years." Those wishing to make a fashion statement, a financial return or perhaps wanting to combine the two should head to the Shagan exhibition to purchase gold items in mid-January.
