As luxury items go, gold watches, jewellery and teeth are a little run of the mill for some. It is lucky then that an American manufacturer has decided to put golden golf clubs into production.

Now, golfers can ensure that they too are at the height of fashion, with the development of a new range of golf clubs, which are plated in gold and studded with platinum.

The MG-818 iron is perhaps one of the world's most luxurious golf clubs, thanks to the gold-plated finish and numerous platinum emblems.

At a cost of $24,000 for a set of the irons, Honma's clubs are not merely for show, however, as they have been crafted for the best performance and have successive tungsten weight positioning.

The creation of the gold clubs highlights the increasing popularity and diversity of gold products.

Together with jewellery items, which are often seen adorning film stars on the red carpet, there is a growing range of luxury goods made from the precious metal.
