Design-centric jewellery fans should head to Philadelphia this February when the city's renowned craft trade show will showcase the work of 350 designers from the US and Canada.

With top jewellers giving over more shelf space to the big brands, organisers claim the Philadelphia Buyers Market of America offers a rare opportunity for discerning customers to track down original designs.

"With major brands demanding more space in fine jewellery stores, design-centric customers have to search harder to find unique jewellery," Rebecca Cason, the show's director, was quoted as saying by JCKmagazine.com.

"Retailers have a great opportunity to capture that market with handcrafted inventory."

The four-day show runs from February 17th to 20th.

But visitors can get a sneak preview of what's on offer at a jewellery preview the evening before it kicks off.

Visitors can locate some of the most exciting new designs in the Premier Jewellery Pavilion, which features high carat-gold, diamonds, platinum and precious stones work from 100 top designers.

The show is also a big date in the diary of the designers themselves.

As well as getting the chance to court mid- to high-end customers, designers are invited to attend seminars on marketing handcrafted jewellery and how to create compelling in-store promotions.

The Philadelphia Buyers Market of American Craft takes place twice a year and is the nation's biggest wholesale American craft event.
