A date has been set for the Las Vegas International Jewellery Show 2006, with an impressive array of vendors sure to pull in jewellers from across the country.

The show will take place from June 2nd to 5th and, with between 300 and 500 vendors expected to attend, it is shaping up to be one of the premier events on US jewellers' calendar next year.

Keen to throw in something extra for next year's attendees, the organisers have announced they will hold a celebrity jewellery contest, the National Jeweller reports.

This will see jewellers competing for the honour of borrowing a celebrity jewellery collection that they can then display in their shop.

Lucky winners are required to match baubles from jewellery makers with celebrities who have worn them.

With jewellers having to contend with increasingly busy calendar these days, the organisers are also offering a 'speed shopping' service that aims to match them up with vendors in double-quick time.

A concierge will attempt to match buyers with vendors they think would appeal.
