One X-box could be given a facelift with a solid gold X-box faceplate currently being sold on eBay.

The X-box is fully functional and features a faceplate cast from a solid gold bar.

It weighs around 900g and has a starting bid of $36,000.

At the moment it is under armed guard in the US, but would make a sparkling addition to any game-player's equipment.

The X-box bidding ends in approximately seven days time.

Another electronic item to have been covered in the precious metal as a fashion statement and luxury item is the mobile phone.

Vertu has been manufacturing gold phones since 2002 and Peter Aloisson is making a gold and blue diamond phone that could cost $1 million.
